Taking place during the last years of the Franco dictatorship in Spain when a brief UFO craze swept the country PLATILLOS VOLADORES explores how two troubled souls manage to find meaning in the phenomenon of flying saucers. Juan and Jose are two laborers who come under the delusion that they are being contacted by the UFOs being seen all around Spain. But their fantasy becomes dangerous when it not only begins to unhinge their grasp on reality but also because the authorities have begun investigating any reports of flying saucers as subversive behavior. PLATILLOS VOLADORES is based on the strange true story of a pair of UFO enthusiasts in Brazil called "the Case of the Lead Masks" by researchers
