In his first feature film Bill Cosby stars as Caleb Revers a black Civil War veteran who takes his wife (Gloria Foster) and 12 year-old son (George Spell) to Arizona and sets up a homestead. A kindly neighbor gives him a horse to help work the land but before long racist white folks steal his horse. Caleb and his son set out to retrieve the horse but several dangerous obstacles including a crazed sheriff and an arch rival from Caleb's past stand in their way
