In a small town, attorney Sam Fishetti is ordered by the courts to defend Vincent Cauley, who stands accused of the brutal murder of a local girl. In this emmy Dabney Coleman plays Martin Costigan, the hard boiled criminal lawyer, and best friend of Sam, who assists him in the defense. The resulting trial and evidence threaten to tear the town apart and jeopardize the careers of both men.
